Occurrence management is a fundamental part of continual improvement. It is the process by which errors and near misses are identified and dealt with. The aim is to correct the error in testing or communication, then adjust the process so the error is unlikely to happen again. It is one of the twelve quality system essentials and must be addressed in any laboratory quality management system.
This course explains the basic elements of an effective occurrence management programme. Participants leave able to spot risks before they become occurrences, and to handle occurrences so they never become recurrences.
